S is for Sweet Potato

A couple weeks ago, we introduced avocado as a great first solid food to introduce to baby. Today we bring you another one: sweet potato!

Safe to start at 6 months old (or earlier if your pediatrician recommends it), sweet potato is easy to digest, rich in nutrients including Vitamin A, Vitamin C and manganese, as well as  vitamin B6, potassium, iron, copper, and dietary fiber - not to mention it has a subtly sweet taste babies love.

You could give it to baby in the basic mush-and-mash no-frills way, or try pureeing sweet potato with carrots and bananas, blending a bit of water or breast milk, and finishing off with a dash of cinnamon.
