About our Products + Textiles:
GOTS Certification |
GOTS stands for Global Organic Textile Standard. It is a globally recognized standard for the processing and production of textiles made from organic fibers. This certification ensures that our products meet strict environmental and social criteria at every stage of production, from the harvesting of the raw materials to the labeling of the final product. By choosing GOTS-certified products, you can trust that you are purchasing a product that not only meets the highest standards for organic materials but also promotes ethical and sustainable practices. We take pride in our commitment to providing GOTS-certified products, which are produced under rigorous standards that help protect the environment, the workers who produce them, and ultimately, you and your little ones. |
Our Dyes |
At Parade, we are committed to using sustainable and eco-friendly practices in all aspects of our production process. That's why we use only GOTS certified, low impact dyes on our clothing. Low-impact dyes are dyes with a higher than average absorption rate (70%-80%, depending on the color). This means less water is required in the rinse process and less dye runs off in the water; therefore, the dyes have a lower impact on the environment. Unlike traditional dyes, low-impact dyes do not contain heavy metals (like chrome, copper, and zinc), nor do they require toxic chemical mordants to fix them to the fiber. Our low-impact dyes are not only better for the environment, but they also create beautiful, rich colors that will last for years to come. Eco-friendly dyes are just as long lasting as the harmful dyes used on conventional products. However, they will fade if powerful detergents or bleaching agents are used. Because there are no chemical color fixatives used in our clothing, please do not mix dark colors with light ones for the first few washes. For the first wash, if you add ¼ cup of vinegar to the final rinse, this will help to set the color and resist fading or bleeding. |
Our Cotton |
Organic cotton is much stronger because it is not exposed to the weakening, harsh chemicals that commercially grown cotton is, therefore organic cotton will last many years, and can be handed down to many babies to come! That being said, organic cotton is a natural fiber and still prone to break down from external forces. Knees and elbows are not reinforced, and will wear when in repeated contact with rough surfaces - for example, during the crawling stage. Interlock cotton may wear in the knees if baby is crawling on hard surfaces. During this time it is recommended to use kneepads or legwarmers or something similar over the knees to protect your cotton garments. |
Print and Size Variations |
At Parade, we take pride in the fact that all of our clothing is hand-sewn and printed. This means that each piece is unique and may have slight variations in sizing or prints. But we believe these variations are part of what makes our clothes so special! Please allow for up to 5% variation in sizing due to the nature of cutting and sewing clothing by hand. We understand that finding the right fit is important, so we provide detailed size charts for each of our products to help you choose the right size. Keep in mind that all cotton fabrics will shrink, and organic cotton will shrink slightly more than processed cotton because it's not chemically treated. Shrinkage is worse for the lengths of the garments and is less noticeable in width. However, we've taken this into account in our designs, so our garments may look larger than non-organic garments before you wash them. |
